Wednesdays= Date Nights

All parents of small children know that it is very hard to have adult conversations amongst a husband and wife while the children are awake and running around.  I know having our third child who is still very dependent on me has taken a toll on my personal sanity at times.  I have no quiet time with my husband, let alone myself.  A couple weeks ago I was feeling pretty down because Rudy and I were just so busy, go go go!  And we were losing that **SPARK**!  It's sad when you look around and things are just blah!  We have so much to be thankful for...don't get me wrong!  Our three beautiful girls, our home, our marriage and our God!  But I just missed Rudy.  I think this is something that A LOT of couples go through and I think it is super important to make time for each other.  Rudy and I are very open about our history together.  It's been a few bumpy roads that God gets all the glory for bringing us off of!  We even attended marriage counseling about two years ago.  It was the best thing we could have ever done!  In our times meeting with the pastor conducting our sessions, he encouraged us to have date nights regularly in the home and outside of the home!

Blah blah blah....here we are!
Finally making the time to have regular date nights at home!

So some of my friends were telling me to write down what we do and share our dates so that it can give them ideas of what to do...so I said, "I'll BLOG about it!"

Three weeks ago, we ordered Qdoba take out, put the kids to bed and played Yahtzee!  I am a big believer in the kids have a regular bedtime and Mom and Dad having personal time.  Do what you want ::wink wink::  But quiet time together is IMPORTANT!  So that was date one...qdoba and yahtzee!
Last week we ordered in Chinese food and just talked for about two hours!  It was great to sit on the couch and just 'hang out'!
This week we are going to try something we have wanted to do for years!  Make sushi!  So, I will blog later about how it goes!

I'm super excited and I look forward to every Wednesday with my husband!!

Quick Catch Up!

Oh I keep doing this!!!  I keep posting saying, "I'll keep up, I promise!!"  (hand in air like a girl scout--I was a girl scout once...shout out to Group 579)  Well sure enough I have not kept up writing about the busy days at the Sarate home!  But here we are over a year since I blogged last and SO much has changed!  Here is the quick update!

We had another baby girl- Grace Rose Sarate was born January 20, 2011 at 9:44pm, 7lbs 4 oz, and 20 1/2 inches long!   It was a hard labor but God was good, He gave me the energy to push and Grace was out in three tries!  The doctor told me her name fits her well since her heart rate had dropped and they were threatening C-section.  He told me to count my blessings and go to church EVERY Sunday!  :-)

You might have done the math already, Grace is just about 12 weeks old and in those 12 weeks she was sick twice, one time landed her in the hospital for nine days needing a little oxygen!  Oh my Gracie!  The girls are absolutely in love!

Speaking of our other girls!  Kaylee is four-turning five next Monday!!!  I can not even believe five years has passed!  She is my drama queen, loves the color pink, snuggling with her puppy (oh yea we got a dog too), her best friend Chloe is now her sister, and she wants a real car for her birthday!

Oh Isabella!  She is two and a half now! And the saying terrible twos reigns true for this one!  She is so silly, she has a few nicknames, Dennis the Menace, Master of Disaster and lastly Albert Einstein! Yup, you might be asking, "why do you call your daughter Albert Einstein?"  The answer...her crazy hair!!!  Isabella loves her puppy, dinosaurs and chewing gum!  Or should I say chewing gum and then losing it down her shirt, only to find it later as we are going into the tub!

So, also since I blogged last, I graduated from the University of Phoenix with my bachelor's in psychology.  Rudy became a Sergent with the ARMY National Guard and now is studying to become a helicopter pilot and finishing his bachelors!

And Cookie is our new puppy...we bought her off craigslist two days after Christmas!  We couldn't pass her up for the price and that cute face we knew she was ours!

Caught Up

My my my it has been so long!  You need an update!  Kaylee is a beautiful 4 year old!  The last time I wrote she was only two!  Her hair which was always so light is finally beginning to resemble mommy and daddy's deep shade of brown!  She still has the most gorgeous big brown eyes, that have a way of looking completely sassy and sweet all at the same time!  She LOVES her movies, whether it be Chronicles of Narnia or Beauty and the Beast, she is happy with the movies.  She takes after her daddy in the way of wanting to watch movies all the time.  She has the patience for them too.  She is a singer, her teachers love having her in class to keep the volume up when it comes to school programs.  She is so intelligent.  There is no pulling the wool over her eyes...she will LET YOU KNOW!  She loves Jesus.  It makes me happy to hear her telling the doctor how Jesus healed her latest cold, or the postmaster how Jesus and God made the beautiful mini Sunflower bouquet she was carrying.  And most of all she is the best big sister ever!

Isabella is now about 21 months old!  Last I wrote she was only 2 months.  Obviously I have not blogged through all the infant to toddler changes but she sure has grown up.  She started walking two weeks before her first birthday and would you believe it that she started wearing heels maybe two weeks later. Dress up heels of course. Her vocabulary is amazing and clear, except for when she is sucking on her binky.  Which is not only our lifesaver for Isabella but her favorite, she even tries to eat with it in.  I know, ewwww.  Isabella has gorgeous brown eyes, they resemble her dad's.  Her skin is fare and her hair is light.  She reminds me often of my brother as a baby and when she was born I thought she looked like Great Grandpa Angelo.  Isabella loves dogs of all kinds.  She especially loves the movie Beverly Hills Chihuahua.  She calls them, 'WAWAs'.  We can't go anywhere there is a dog without Isabella screaming for him.  She is already repeating her alphabet and can count a few numbers.  She loves to tickle people and jump on the bed.  She is our Master of Disaster (props to daddy for the name).  And most of all she loves to hug and kiss, especially her big sissy.
As for me and Rudy our lives have been busy.  I started Mary Kay as a beauty consultant around Christmas time.  I love it!  Contact me for your free facial. (I had to) I am about to graduate this summer with my Bachelors in Psychology!  Finally I will be done and free from college but not student loans. :-)  Rudy is busy being the best recruiter for the ARMY National Guard I know.  He is also working on his degree and has goals to one day become an Officer!  Yes he is an Officer and a Gentleman! He is my Officer and Gentleman!

I have a two year old daughter. Love her to pieces.
Does anyone ever experience what I am about to discuss?

Every morning since we have moved into our new house we wake up, go downstairs, put on noggin and have breakfast. Kaylee my two year old goes in and out of her playroom, her playroom is an overly glorified closet which we have converted into the playroom, anyway, she goes in and out watches her show and eventually forgets that it is on. This morning, the house was clean, her playroom clean and ready for some fresh mess, Isabella fed and clean ready to sit in her chair and look at things, and I was ready to sit and catch up on my soap (days of our lives) and do homework. Of course though today Kaylee decided that she wanted to sit with me and Isabella decided she wanted to be fussy. It always seems to happen that way. The minute I am ready to relax the kids are not ready to let me. always!

Here I am writing my blog and Kaylee is sitting next to me watching days. I think she really likes the show. It's funny. She is two and half and likes my soap.
But here it is three hours after I started my homework and started to watch my two episodes of days of our lives and I just started the second episode.

The life of a stay at home mother. Husbands truly do not understand.

First Post

Good Evening Fellow Stay At Home Mommies! I wanted to create a place for me to come and vent. Vent to whoever is listening, or reading if you want to be picky. But there are days I have that I can not explain my feelings to my husband verbally and so I decided I might find it easier to write it out and let whoever wants to read it. I am open to having people comment on my posts and I encourage it because I feels good to know that there are other people out there who experience the daily trials and joys of being a stay at home mommy.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Alissa, I am 25 and from NJ. Born and raised. I did live for a few years in AZ for college but that was years go. My husband's name is Rudy and he is in the Army National Guard active duty as a recruiter. We have two daughters, Kaylee who is 2 1/2 born in April 2006. Our newest addition is Isabella, born September 2008.

In my spare time...HA HA HA...what spare time? I know we all say that. I am going to school full-time (online of course), I love to scrapbook but haven't really accomplished much of it in two years, I like to read, again when I am not exhausted, I used to workout. I probably should again but to find the energy these days is hard.

Well that is me right now. I am excited to begin writing about my journeys each day. I always find it best to write my feelings than talk about them verbally. I find this to be my quiet time and my solitude! And now, you who are reading this are a new friend! Welcome to my life and I look forward to sharing in experiences with you!!! God Bless!
